How you choose to heat your home is a big decision. It affects many areas of your life––primarily your finances and health. And chances are you didn’t even choose the existing furnace in your own home. The original owner did. His or her needs and lifestyle may have been very different from yours, so the furnace you currently have may not even be addressing your needs. It may be time to upgrade your furnace due to age or if you would prefer something with a higher efficiency. Whatever the reason, our qualified technicians at Ben's Heating & Air Conditioning are here to evaluate your home and make sure to guide you toward the right furnace for your needs.
A New Gas Furnace Makes All the Difference
As mentioned above, your current needs for a gas furnace may be different than the needs at the time of the furnace’s purchase. Whether someone else made the purchase or your needs have simply changed, there are important considerations to make when deciding on a new gas furnace for your home. These considerations can make all the difference to your home’s comfort level. Choosing to work with our professionals at Ben's Heating & Air Conditioning will help you to include these factors when choosing your new furnace:
- Efficiency –– If your current furnace is older than ten years old, even if it’s still working, chances are it ’s not presenting you with the highest efficiency. Upgrading to a higher-efficiency furnace can offer you savings in your energy bills as well as a more comfortable home.
- Correct Size –– Evaluating your home’s size and needs plays directly into selecting the appropriately sized gas furnace for your home. Your home’s layout may be different now than it was when your existing furnace was purchased. Installing either a too-small or too-large furnace in your home won’t offer you the energy savings or the comfort you’re expecting with a new furnace. It’s critical that the correct size of the equipment and ductwork be installed for your satisfaction.
- Proper Ventilation –– Your home’s ductwork may deteriorate over time, or it may not have been installed correctly in the first place. It’s imperative your ductwork is properly sealed and vented. Without this important step, you may be losing much of your heating-and-cooling energy. Also, your indoor air quality (IAQ) may not be as high as you would like. A thorough evaluation may be in order at this time as well.
- Health Needs –– If your existing gas furnace isn’t operating at its highest efficiency or your HVAC ductwork needs replacing or repairing, your health could be at risk. This is especially true if someone in your home is living with allergies, asthma, a chronic illness, or pets. IAQ is lower than our outdoor air these days. Having the right furnace goes a long way in helping in this area.
- Cost Evaluation –– Though you may think that keeping your existing furnace costs less than upgrading/replacing to a new one, you could be mistaken. Your operating costs could be considerably higher due to your furnace’s low efficiency. Investing in a new high-efficiency gas furnace will reward you over time with lower energy bills and repair bills. Typically, homeowners recoup their costs over the first five years or so.

Gas Furnace Repair in Portland, OR 97229
“Customer service was exceptional, courteous and professional. Jennifer R. was very good at setting up a field service check by a technician to trouble shoot an issue with our 17 year old Trane gas furnace. The response time was timely and ahead of the original estimated time of arrival. We received prompt text and email notifications. The technician Aaron B. was knowledgeable and his trouble shooting of our furnace issue was thorough and pinpointed the problem. There was no pressure to immediately remedy the situation as the current weather conditions were mild enough to allow us to make some important decisions on whether to just replace the failing furnace part or upgrade to a newer more efficient furnace model based on the age of the unit we now have which is nearing the end of its performance life.”

Annual HVAC Service
“Ben’s recently performed an annual service on my heating & AC system on a home that I recently bought. They were prompt, very friendly, fair, and reasonably priced. Hired them to come again every year. Thanks!”

Fixed Furnace Installation
“Ben’s came out and fixed the bad installation on our furnace (not done by them!). The corrected the vent to the proper size and it works like a champ. We put a new paver patio behind the house and needed the heat pump moved to a different location on short notice. The were completely full, but jumped through hoops to get it done. I highly recommend these guys. They do excellent work and they are great people to work with! Thank you very much.”

HVAC System Installation
“We were having major problems with our both our furnace and our air conditioner. Ben’s gave us a very reasonable estimate, so we went with them.
We were so glad we did, because our system had some very strange aspects, and they analysed the problems thoroughly, and brought in several specialists to make sure they understood the problem. They installed the new system and fixed the duct problem we had. Even after that, they came back when we suspected our ducts were harboring dust. They came back and hand vacuumed each duct, and checked to make sure every thing was working well. They took the job very seriously and did not just stop once the system was in. They followed up and made sure everything was working perfectly. The guys who came and worked were all very pleasant and took their job seriously. I would recommend Ben’s to anyone.”
– Linda B.
“Not only did Ben’s give me a great deal on my new furnace, they were professional and went above and beyond. Clyde, the owner, is outstanding and very reasonable. Clyde’s son, Tim, also helped me (he capped a gas line for me under my house during my furnace install) and let me just say the company is in good hands when Clyde retires. They seem to have a great team at Ben’s. Everyone, including the office staff who I called way too much (sorry!), communicated with me and we’re pleasant to work with. If you need furnace/AC help, call these guys.”

Same-Day Furnace Repair
“The furnace went out this morning, the kids are flying in today with 2 toddlers and I was really worried. Talked to John, the service manager, at 8 AM and he personally was here before 10:30 to get the heat back on. Have always used Ben’s and most certainly always will. Would highly recommend their kind, courteous and professional business.”
– Gerri M.
“It’s 20 outside and 54 inside this morning when my HE furnace didn’t kick on. John from Ben’s called me back within a few minutes. He talked me right though the process to get it kicked back on. WOW Great service and so nice to work with!!”
